Water Hyacinth
A floating plant that provides natural biofiltration and algae control. Creates shade and absorbs excess nutrients through the root system. Fish will spawn in the roots. Blooms occasionally.

Can grow very large, up to 18" in diameter. Full sun. Tolerates light shade.

Rapid proliferation. Invasive species in large natural ponds, lakes and rivers. Best suited for small ponds and water gardens. Blooms well in barrels and container gardens.

Dwarf Water Hyacinth
Smaller version of the traditional water hyacinth the dwarf variety also helps control algae by providing shade and consuming excess nutrients in the water. Fish will spawn in the roots. Ideal for small ponds and containers. Size: approximately 4" across.

Full sun. Tolerates light shade.Rapid proliferation. Invasive species in large natural ponds, lakes and rivers. Best suited for small ponds and water gardens.

Blooms well in barrels and container gardens.

Water Lettuce
Rosette of velvety blue-green leaves. Trailing roots remove excess nutrients and help purify water. Lettuce will create shade and provide a spawning medium for fish.

Does well in partial shade.

Elodea
A native "anacharis". Very hardy, vigorous.

Full sun. Tolerates shade.

Spread 10-12 sq ft.
Depth 10-24"

Fanwort
Fan-shaped underwater leaves and tubular stems. Capable of blooming with small white flowers on surface although flowering is uncommon. Also used in aquariums. Very insave in the wild. Grows quickly so is best in small ponds and water gardens where overgrowth can be harvested out of the pond.

Full sun. Tolerates shade.

Duck Weed
A hardy floating plant with small green leaves 1/8" to 1/6" in diameter. A favourite food for goldfish and koi. Spreads rapidly, easily controlled by goldfish and koi.

Invasive in the wild, best used in small ponds and water gardens.
Full sun. Partial shade toleration.
