IPEX Poly pipe is a flexible, durable polyethylene tubing used in pond systems for water supply lines, automatic fill valves, and aeration airlines.

Available in three formats

IPEX Utility
Pressure Rating: 50 psi.
Sizing Standard: Standard IPS (Iron Pipe Size); works with standard insert hose fittings.
Best Uses: Low-pressure, non-critical applications like basic garden pumps and temporary or open-discharge water transfer.

IPEX White Stripe
Pressure Rating: 75 psi.
Sizing Standard: Standard IPS (Iron Pipe Size); works with standard insert hose fittings.
Best Uses: Residential irrigation, garden pumps, lake/farm water distribution, and mechanical protection for buried electrical cables. Features UV protection for above-ground use.

IPEX Gold Stripe 
Pressure Rating: Up to 250 psi (high pressure/heavy-duty).
Sizing Standard: CTS (Copper Tube Size)—note that it is sized differently than standard IPS poly pipe and requires specialized CTS fittings or inserts.
Best Uses: Commercial water service lines, main building water connections, and demanding high-pressure underground distribution.

Applications
Cold Weather Tip: If the polyethylene is stiff from cold weather, warm the end of the pipe slightly in hot water to make it pliable before pushing the insert fitting in.

Aeration Airlines: Runs unweighted or flexible poly tubing from an air compressor on shore to diffusers in the pond.
Water Supply & Fountains: Feeds water lines, bypasses, or automatic fill valves.
Large Ponds: Distributes water for irrigation or intake systems. Can be used as air supply line for aeration.

Benefits of Poly Pipe
Freeze-Resistant: More forgiving in cold weather and winter freeze-thaw cycles compared to PVC pipes and hoses.
Flexible & Lightweight: Compared to PVC hose PE is easier to bend around landscaping features without cracking and less prone to kinking although care must still be taken as bending at a sharp angle can cause kinks.  Easy to route around rocks without using 90-degree elbow fittings, highly cost-effective, and simple to attach with barbed fittings and stainless steel hose clamps.
UV Resistant: Treated to withstand sun exposure when run above ground or along the shoreline.

Differences between IPEX compared to Generic Poly Pipe
Quality Assurance: Generic or unbranded black poly pipe often lacks independent third-party testing certifications or clear manufacturer backing.
Rating Clarity: Unbranded pipe may omit continuous pressure ratings, wall thickness specs, or footage markers along the outer wall, making field verification difficult.
Consistency: Premium manufacturing ensures uniform wall thickness and roundness, reducing leakage risks when paired with standard insert fittings and hose clamps
