Bareroot Hardy Water Lilies available April 15 – June 30th. We ship live plants on Mondays only.
These bare root hardy water lilies are perfect for any water garden because of their perennial beauty, ease of care, abundance of bloom, and variety of colour and form. We have chosen a selection that tolerate partial shade to accomodate the typical Canadian conditions of colder temperatures and reduced sunlight hours.
While hardy lilies prefer direct sunlight and warmer pond waters, the choices below will flourish well in most ponds and water gardens across Canada in regions in plant hardiness zones from 4 and up. Their purchase may be considered a permanent investment and with reasonable care they can be retained for many years and divided and transplanted into new pots. These hardy water lilies are also available as container grown lilies, shipped in 8" pots are offered as well.
These bare root plants, and the potted lillies, must be transplanted to larger containers (we recommend from 9L to 18L (2.5 to 5 gallon tubs) larger but careful potting in smaller planters can also work well with these hardy aquatics. Using larger potting tubs is more important for late season planting. Potted lilies are recommended if planting after July 1st in Canada.
Bare root plants will also be suitable for naturalizing in earth ponds if you want to bury the lily rhizomes directly into bottom mud. The options with lilies are abundant and the annual flowers in the pond are a real treasure.
